A brief intro on Business Partner.

Business Partner is SAP S4 HANA

In simpler terms, any entity that interacts with your SAP system is referred to as a Business Partner.

SAP introduced this concept to minimize data duplication. For example, suppose I have a vendor who wants to purchase something from me. In S/4HANA, I can easily assign them a Business Partner role as a customer. However, in SAP ECC, I would need to re-enter all their information, such as address, name, and postal code, to register them as a customer.

From a B2B perspective, the Business Partner concept makes even more sense. Let’s say I’m doing business with Microsoft’s Seattle office and handle all deliveries there. If I later want to purchase services from them, I can simply use the same Business Partner number assigned to Microsoft and treat them as a vendor.

Below are the config that you need to do.

  1. Defining the number range for business partner
  2. Assign number range to business partner groupings
  3. Define Business Partner Roles
  4. Define business partner role category
  5. Define Business partner Role Grouping
  6. Define Customer Account Group
  7. Define Customer Number Range
  8. Assign Customer Number range to Account Group
  9. Number Assignment for direction BP to customer
